Auto-reversing Tram by David Guillaume
The 18½" long car was hauled up and down a 6ft. track by Sprocket Chain, driven through an automatic reversing gearbox and slipping clutch.
Electrical contacts near each end of the track caused a bell to ring just before stopping.
Red and white lights at each end of the tram were fed with current from an isololated rail: the long girders seen at the back, supported on Insulating Spacers.
These lights automatically changed from red to white and vice versa at each end of the track, operated by a push-rod projecting from the buffer beam.
