Märklin Metallbaukasten Locomotive Swiss Railways SSB AE 3/6 ii G Gauge Spur 1
I was looking for pictures of Swiss Railways SSB locomotives, I came across the AE 3/6 ii which I found had a very unusual wheel arrangement, the driving wheels are powered through two smaller wheels above them, which also have link rods. I thought I should try to make a model using Märklin Metallbaukasten parts. I had up till now never used the Märklin 1071 motor and have used it here. Märklin Metallbaukasten does not have any flanged wheels in 2.5 inches so I used the regular wheels. These are balanced on the track by the front and rear wheels (like in Meccano Erector Hudson). Unfortunately, this locomotive only uses the 4 6 2 wheel arrangement instead of 4 6 4 as in Meccano Erector Hudson, which makes the task an even greater challenge but I have managed it. The other problem is that the G gauge is a two rail system so the left and the right sides of the wheels have to be insulated from each other.
