Meccano Workshop
The right hand side (as viewed from the front) line shaft secured to the board. Normally, there would be a simple line shaft connected to the tools with just one steam engine connected to the lineshaft, but in this case I wanted to do things a bit different. Firstly the lineshaft needs to be long to accomodate all the tools, but with the longest standard Meccano axles being 11.5" this meant the line shaft needed to be in at least two parts. This was further complicated by the need to be able to show the workings of several steam engines and not have the boilers blocking the view to onlookers. This meant a 90 degree turn in the line shafts. There will also be provision to drive the tools from the opposite side of the lineshaft and indeed the rear, which further complicates things.
