It is interesting to compare this outfit (which dates from June 1938 according to the guarantee slip) with the ones either side of it in this gallery. Note this box has compartments with a simple stringing card in one of them. The earliest boxes has no divisions and the parts were almost certainly wrapped in red paper with a Meccano label attached.
