German artillery gun - Tony Homden

Tony Homden still has Pickfords on contract to move his models.

The model of the German artillery gun was big by all standards.

This 80 cm., German railway gun named "Gustav" was mounted on 4-mule wheeled bogies and ran on a semi-circular double railway track.

If my memory is correct there are 80 x 1" pulleys in the bogies.

The semi-circular track being used for the field of fire a gun of this abnormal size did not slew or move side to side when aiming.

This model also featured in the film at Stoneleigh. I have since seen the model, and it was working very efficiently, with a little more effort Tony hopes to have the model operating off one switch.
