Excavator built by Paul Brecknell

The model has been built to an approximate scale of 1:70 (but with the two hoist masts being slightly shortened below scale to facilitate transport).

The somewhat unusual caterpillar layout is true to the original and in the model the tensioned tracks used 630 individual plastic links, 84 x part 38d and the same number of part 173a.

The three sets of track are individually powered by a Phillips 14volt motor, heavily geared down.

The roller bearing was designed many years ago by the late Bert Love and is fully self centring, using 32 of parts 23a and 50 and four large toothed quadrants.

The bucket (or cell) wheel uses parts number 145 as side frames for eleven buckets made using parts 51d, 103h and 147c.
