Hi Keith,
You OWN a full-sized Octopus??? Wowzers!
I worked from the (incomplete)instructions from the article in the Meccano Magazine (MM) for December 1951. There is no Parts Required list. I do have some detail pictures of the model as I was building it, which I would be happy to send to you.
The MM for June 1966 also has instructions for a small six-arm Octopus (hardly counts does it?).
MW Model Plan 98 gives full instructions for a Fairground Octopus by Hugh Henry. This is just as good if not better than the MM Dec 1951 version. This plan is available from Howard Somerville in London.

I actually own a full size Octopus and also lots of Meccano as well. Do you have a parts list / plan so I can build one.
