-Britain's Final Metrication? Poll results 2007

Ipsos MORI's survey for The Sun (conducted by telephone 20-22 September 2007) showed in replies to Question 12: "How strong would you support or oppose Britain switching to using entirely metric measurements, rather than continuing to use traditional units?", that the most sceptical persons towards a UK Metrication was "the Grannies", not working full time in manual labor jobs, also preferring the Sun/ tabloids rather than broadsheet papers. Further: They intend to vote Tory or "other" rather than Labor/ Lib-Dem. Location seemed to be of no importance, though. As many as 1009 persons constituted the "Weighted Total" of this survey. But then - you can prove just about anything with bought statistics, right? Source: https://www.ipsos.com/sites/default/files/migrations/en- uk/files/Assets/Docs/Archive/Polls/s070922.pdf

Thanks, Michael! I'm merely wondering about/ "researching" the rationale behind this strong following, of which existance I'm constantly being informed, though few other reasons than merely historical/ nostalgic ones are being offered. I might be obnoxious, but the more sentiments and less arguments I find/ receive, the more curious I get. As of the limited poll result above, it seems to me that the strongest supporters for the system are the last ones to actually use it: -These strong feelings could perhaps have a few other reasons than "purely metrological"?

Some of the imperial system is obsolete through lack of use, (Gunther's chain?), but those parts that are still relevant retain a strong following in the UK and USA.

That goes without saying, Mike! :)
-Q13b: "-As you probably know, the UK will soon pass a law prohibiting (from 2020) the treacherous use of decimals within the traditional unit system (span, cubit, perch and Gunther's chain), where only fractions will be accepted instead. How strong do you support or oppose this law?" :)
