Ok, now we have more detailed pictures, we see part 52 is stamped US PATENT PENDING, which dates it as bring manufactured before November 1913. But stamped in English, interestingly. These were very new parts then, of course... |

Amazing outfit, Staffan! The cranked bent strip makes it definitively 1913 or later, and it is usually considered that the japanned finish is late 1915 or 1916 (although with a war on, it's tricky to be sure). That would make the outfit strictly German, something that might be confirmed by the unusual screwdriver which is not a recognised UK version as far as I know. Similarly, I'm not aware of angle brackets being black in the UK at this time. The condition is stunning -- could you try taking bigger pictures in better daylight? What stamping is on the sector plate? In the UK the 'card' of cord stopped after 1913 or so, but that doesn't mean it didn't continue in Germany... |
