Meccano Kerr Stuart Locomotive Dealer’s Display Model Adapted For G Gauge
Some time ago I saw a photo of a Meccano Dealers display model of a Kerr Stuart Diesel locomotive on an auction site. I decided to build it and adapt it for O gauge. Unfortunately, it was not stable on the track, as it is too tall and the heavy motor would make it fall. I rebuilt it for G gauge and it works better. It is powered by the Meccano EOS 20 volt motor. Sadly this motor has to be isolated from the body of the locomotive, as one part of its field and armature is grounded to the body. The original model uses three inch 19b pulley wheels, which cannot be used on the curves of the track. I changed the driving wheels to the Meccano p/n 109/137 combination to make a flanged wheel to run on the track. Using these for G gauge means they have to be insulated from each other.
