Meccano was sold in the US by 1909. A new factory was opened in Elizabeth, New Jersey in 1922. A. C. Gilbert (of Erector fame) bought the Meccano Company of America in 1928.

Gilbert continued making Meccano, though there were some significant changes. He also used the Meccano name on a variety of other products.

US Meccano production can be separated into roughly three periods: 1909 through 1922; 1922 through 1928; and the Gilbert era from 1929 through about 1940. This album is for the last of these.
