Cleaning Brass
Tartaric acid cleans up even the worst tarnished brassware.
It is usually found in the wife's pantry masquerading as Cream of Tartar.
Mix one tablespoon of tartaric acid with dishwashing detergent.
The quantities don't matter much. Leave the brass soaking for 20 minutes or so.
Don't be alarmed if the brass loses its yellow colour and becomes more bronze like.
Brasso will restore the original brass colour.
