How to shorten grub screws
Did you know grub screws come in 3 different lengths. 69a 5/32" (standard), 69b 7/32" (long) and 69c 7/64" (short).
The short grub screws are often needed when things get tight in a mechanism and you don't have clearance for a grub screw that protrudes.
Now all Meccanoboys will know that part 69c short grub screws are as rare as hens teeth but it's quite easy to shorten the modern hex drive grubbies because they fit nice and snug into a hex driver.
You just run it across a fine file making sure you keep the hex driver perfectly perpendicular. Try it! You'll be amazed how fast and easy it is.
