NFGC MkII Test Blank #2, >60W input
-YIKES!!! The sound! 170-ish Hz square wave "tone" made it hard to focus the camera, I took a deafening video for my (still) sceptical colleagues. Seems like the entire rig holds up just fine - no noticeable bending, or loosening of nuts. Each run takes some 20 secs at 100 m/min on the mill. Gotta move the motor/ tighten the O-ring a bit though - fed the hob just a little to much to bite in a test, it jammed and the amps topped out at 15 while the motor rpm went down a tad, its pulley screeched and smelled terrible. At startup it takes 25 W to run the works - just a little whine accompanying, then the wattage (and noise) jumps and remains at a stable high level thru the feed. I kinda knew there would be some noise, but I just wasn't mentally prepared for the first run. Didn't panic tho. I wonder what it'll be like with twice the speed & feed for the finishing run? Guess it will sound like "Satan's Sneeze" or a WWII "Buzz Bomb" V1? Time will tell, and you'll know if you check in again. //BTW: -You builders don't seem to bother with "timed screws" any longer - is that outta fashion or just plain forgotten?
