Never liked the idea of 4mm rods/ threaded rods PUSHING the carriage into the works, I'd rather have them PULL from the rear... But here M8 threaded rod COULD push without the rods themselves (at least) buckling.// As Sweden is in the Northern Hemisphere I mount the tap/ worm ass'y the other way around due to the Coriolis effect. //Motor (left): "ELVI 59-31", stripped to its worm - has a 69:1 ratio and 85 rpm @24 VDC. This liberated one comes from a former office table light duty elevator. 3 Nm nominal torque (with worm gear) at 50 W in- Ball bearings throughout - purrs like a cat, but it doesn't take any hostages - it'll just grab your Volts and Amps and run, at 125W it'll shred what comes in its way unless your homework's done. Even higher load will strip/ melt the gear. It just might suffice for this project, tho.
